The Blog
I started The Deviant Diva back in 2016. It was an exploration of Charleston from a perspective of a woman that wasn’t widely represented in the area. A voluptuous black single mom who loves culture, wine, food, and fashion. As of 2020, the blog serves as a guide to those who think outside of the basic box. I am highlighting black owned lifestyle company’s. As well as, ethically and sustainably made clothing brands. In addition, travel, events, and more of my favorite brands will be featured.
Mini Bio
I was born in Atlanta and raised in Macon, Ga. Which is where I spent my adolescences reading fashion magazines, drawing fashion sketches, and even writing risque teen short stories. I had several outlets to direct my creative energy. I think that’s what kept me out of trouble. Naturally, I gravitated toward art school when it was time to graduate. I attended Miami International University of Art and Design. Where I received a BA in Fashion Merchandising. After graduating, I began working for Saks Fifth Avenue as a visual merchandiser for seven years. There, I gained experience styling fashion shows and mannequins, modeling, window displays, and interior design. After Saks, I decided to become a stay at home mother. That’s when I took my extensive knowledge of fashion and started a successful eBay store. Where I only sold contemporary and high-end women’s apparel. Eventually, I needed a change of scenery and work. That’s what brought me to my current city of Charleston, SC. I currently work as a visual coordinator for several apparel brands. With a sprinkle of modeling and blogging on the side.
